COOLSEA INNOVATION LAB
A specialized maritime innovation lab & development unit, est. 2014, based in the coastal city Svendborg (DK), with the focus on clean energy solutions for the internatonal cargo shipping industry . They have invented a new unique and reliable way of providing clean energy cargo cooling without the need of fuel consumption, which is the general way of producing cooling onboard present-day. The new technology harnesses energy from other ship processes completely nulifying the need for oil. The team of developers recieved in 2016 a 1.1 million grant for further development, refinement and design execution from the EU HORIZON 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
They are right now on the verge of introducing this new unique type of eco-friendly, cost—efficient and energy-saving cooling system for the international maritime cargo, transport and cruise industry into the market. The implementation of their technology would significantly lessen the carbon footprint of onboard cooling if applied on most of the international shipping fleets.

Coolsea Innovation Lab
C4SEA Innovation Lab has developed a unique new type of sustainable and clean maritime cooling technology. A typical average freighter ship will potentially save approx. 340 tons of fuel oil every year, which in turn saves the biosphere of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) of approx.1200 tons annualy.
With the adaption of their sustainable cooling technology in a large-scale shipping fleet or in widespread global shipping industry in general this would have a significant and crucial impact on the overall maritime shipping industry's environmental footprint and save a huge amount of money otherwise spend on fuel oil to provide on-board cooling at sea.
